The oldest school of astrology is Vedic which originated in India and spread to the western world.

Even though there are differences between Vedic and Western systems, they are both popular.  However, some astrologers would argue that Vedic astrology is more accurate.

The main difference between Vedic and Western astrology is the system they use. Vedic astrology is based on the Sidereal system whereas the western counterpart is based on the Tropical.  The Sidereal system takes into account the shifting of the Earth on its axis, whereas the Tropical system does not.  The sky in the Western astrology looks the same as it did thousand of years ago, but the sky in Vedic astrology is more in tune with the astronomical events of the day.

Another difference is that the moon and the ascendant play a more important role in Vedic astrology as opposed to the Sun.

I think it would be fun to try both systems and decide for yourselves which one is superior.
